We measure the air quality of street canyons at Mäkelänkatu 50. The results of this monitoring station describe the air quality in busy street environments, where the buildings on both sides weaken the dilution process of pollutants.
At this monitoring station we measure, among others, the concentrations of nitrogen dioxide, thoracic particles, fine particles etc. This is also a station for extensive air quality research.
The results are presented through an air quality index that correlates the concentrations to their health effects. The index varies from good to very poor. When the air quality is poor (red colour), people sensitive to air pollutants may show some symptoms. The graph shows the air quality indices from the last 12 hours (unverified hourly values).
