Use water reasonably

A resident in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area uses an average of 137 litres of water per day. The top years of water consumption are far behind in the 1970s, when all residents used up to 400 litres of water per day. The decrease in water consumption has occurred thanks to water-saving household appliances and showers as well as the change in people’s attitudes: They want to use water in a reasonable manner.

Over 40% of water used in households goes to washing. In addition to this, flushing the toilet, preparing food and laundry take up a significant part of the daily water consumption.
